I am haven a problem, I just reinstalled windows xp home edition, and I turned my comptuer off, now it restarts after the windows loading screen, everytime so I can't get into the desktop, I try'ed to go into safe mode, but it does the same thing.

- Main Problem - : restarts after windows loading screen, and doesn't go to welcome screen

So, any suggestions? would be great.

Have you made any alterations to hardware or software just before you restarted? Having the original installation disk would be useful for repairing damage Windows, it seems like it's probably a driver issue to me. Do you have the Windows installation disk to hand?

OK, i must be tired. Of course you have it to hand... Repair install would seem the best bet, though I know you've just done an install...

it was working before I installed it, everytime I put the disk in. It just goes to the window loading screen, it doesn't say press a button to boot the disk, and no blue screen.

Well, if that's the case you need to alter the boot priority in your BIOS to make your optical drive first on the list.

Go into the BIOS and under Advanced BIOS settings or Boot Priority or smoething like that chage the sequence so the CDROM drive is ahead of the Hard Drive.

When the pc first switches on, press Del (for most motherboards), to enter the BIOS. Depending again on the mobo, it'll be located in Advanced Bios Features, or something along those lines.

The boot priority is the order in which the pc searches to find a device it can load Windows from. Changing the first device to the CD-Rom will mean the disk will be read, and the setup will execute. See this image for what to look out for.

uhm the picture doesn't work, and it says

Primary Master : hardive
Primary slave: none
Secondary Master : cd rom
Secondary slave : dvd rom

?? and when I enter primary master and the secondary master it says.

Ide HDD Auto Detective: [ Auto ] Choices [ None, Auto Manual ]

IDE Primary [ Auto ] Choices [ none, auto, manual ]

How Do I change it?

What section is that in the bIOS, it doesn't seem to be right. You're looking for a list like

First Boot Device
Second Boot Device
etc

Apologies, link should be fixed now. And you are in the right place, wrong section. Just browse the various sections, if it's not got the words boot and priority in it somewhere, it's not what you need. Where you are at currently just tells you what hardware you have plugged in, and settings such as autodetect shouldn't be touched.

It is in the main, then the advance, then the boot, thanks I got it too go into the disk :) thanks magicman and thechef, I will post if I still am haven a problem :) !
