Windows Server 2008 Help

Hi,
I have downloaded a trial version of Windows Server Small Business Edition 2008 and I am toying with the idea of installing it on my desktop. What I am trying to achieve is to have it running on my Desktop and use it a the main OS for the desktop but also have it so that my wifes laptop can access it over the wireless network and get access to the video's, photo, and other general storage. Is this the right use for this OS or and I missing something?

Thanks

Scott

So the only reason you want to go over to the server os is because you want to share files?

think so - I would also like to have a little tinker with it as well but yeah, I want to have it so that we can storage and access programs from the laptops over the wireless network from its hard drives.

what do you think?

well since you can share files on windows xp-vista, i think it is not worth paying ~$1000 for the server os.

plus i dont think some apps are compadable with server 2008

I have managed to download a 120 day trial of the small business version so I would like to try that one -

I have tried to set up a home network using both XP and Vista but never hand any luck with getting one of the laptops to MAP the hard driver over the network.
