Windows Task Manager question

Is it normal for my CPU Usage to be between 40-60% when i am only using Firefox, and Windows Media Player? And is it normal for my Physical Memory percentage to be at between 40 and 50% when I use Firefox and WMP?

If its not normal, How can I lower the percentages being used.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, has an intel core2 duo CPU T6500 @ 2.10GHZ. 4.0 gigs of RAM, with a 64 bit operating system.

I know a bit about computers, but not very much =/

My CPU (sig) goes between 55-90%, but I'm also folding so that adds a bit.

As far as memory goes, the longer you use Firefox, the more memory it uses. Every few hours close Firefox completely. It'll clear up some RAM then just start Firefox again. Although 50% seems like a lot. Do you have any HP bloatware running? (HP Advisor, HP Support, etc.)

Hello Maleviah,

What OS are you using right now under 64 bit? Have you tried to run your applications with a 32bit Operating System? Based on my experience, a 64bit OS consumes higher resources compared to a 32bit. Another thing, limited applications will work with 64bit OS compared to a 32bit Operating System.

Thanks,
