Windows Upgrade Disks give bugs?

2048Megabytes

I have loaded my Windows Vista Basic 32-bit Upgrade on twice with my current system and have had problems with both installations. I would first install Windows XP 32-bit and then Windows Vista Basic 32-bit Upgrade.

With the first installation I couldn't do any updates and I would get system hangs at start up. On the second installation I can do updates but now I get system hangs a little after starting into Windows.

I didn't have any problems when I did a clean installation of Windows Vista Basic 32-bit with another installation disk I had. (I lost the other installation disk.)

It is not a hardware issue because my Linux Ubuntu doesn't give system hangs when I boot into the operating system.

Anyone else have problems using Windows Upgrade disks to do installations?

Two things:
One, your disc could be scratched.
Two, I heard from a friend that upgrading XP to Vista doesn't work very well.
Also, Vista has issues, and I have no idea why you would want to use it.
