Windows Vista Boot Error

When I boot my laptop, it goes straight to the recovery console and runs Startup Repair. It finds an error and it tells me that the "Boot critical file C:\ntoskrnl.exe is corrupt". Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with this laptop and/or how to repair it?

Sounds like the OS has corrupted some how...... the only thing you can do is do a full reinstall....

Well it's telling you that one of the boot files is missing. You should be able to fix it by going through the steps in Startup Repair.
