Windows Vista Ultimate

This is the best version for Vista I imagine right?
I want to pick this version of Windows up because I want to start setting myself up for a DX10 card for when DX10 games come out. Just want to check around to see how everyone is fairing with Vista. If a lot of the bugs have been worked out yet and things are running smoothly.

Right now with XP Pro my Computer runs flawlessly and without lag 100% of the time. I basically just want Vista to give me the same results.

Also... my Processor supports 64 bit. What are the main differences between 32 and 64 bit drivers? Graphics, performance, both?

When trying the RC1 beta I selected the Ultimate version to see that would go. Don't plan on running Vista as the primary OS at this early stage. Soubd drivers are still an item in much need for Creative cards like the one you have in your sig as well as the Audigy 4 Pro model here. There's no EAX support for games in the latest driver sets quite yet.

Going from 32 to 64bit is much the same as going from 16 to 32bit in that sense. You won't be seeing any speed increase. But the stability is the thing to look. The main problem now is the lack of 64bit apps and NO GAMES! We're still living in a 32bit world for the next several years there.

I have Home Premium (only had it for 2 weeks lol) but Its worked fine for me. I would recommend it.

As for 32 or 64bit version, I'd recommend 32 (like the previous post said)

id go 64 bit. if you continue to use 32 you are slowing down the progression of technology.

You'll first have to tell all those 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP users they can no longer run their systems without a 64bit version of Vista? That would definitely go over like a lead balloon there! You first have to address that to the software companies still pumping out 32bit games and applications.

if you tell everybody to use 32 bit and they listen to you then nobody will adopt 64 bit technology. if nobody adopts the technology then software and hardware companies will not produce software for it thus slowing down the progression of technology. and those ME users need to be shot and killed for being stupid :D .

You don't make any sense at all. People will start using 64 bit when they need it thats how technology works.

Although I do agree with the Windows ME thing.

But companies will still make 64 bit stuff so people when the time is right will then be forced to by 64 bit. But until then we really don't need it.

The 64bit versions started with the XP Pro and even Linux has one. But how many game titles can you count right now that are 64bit ready? Let's see is there a Batlefield 2, Call of Duty 2, Crysis, Oblivion, Half Life 1, 2, EP1 and sometime EP2, along with others seen in 64bit format? NADAAAA...!!! There's no money in it yet for software companies!
