Windows Vista update stops windows booting

hey guys, ive had this problem a while but instead of fixing it i just stopped the windows updates

basically at the moment ive got 68 updates that are needed for vista 32 bit

some security and some alot are those KB updates

when ever i install these updates the computer wont boot, start up screen comes on and as soon as the windows loading bar is about to apprear i get a quick flash on the dreaded blue screen and then it starts again, constant cycle.

is there an update known to do this? what am i doing wrong?

i want to install internet explorer 8, but cant without these updates (firefox has gone way downhill)

p.s - system restore works, but im left with 68 updates again:confused:
 
i did try yesterday, but kept getting redirected to a help page that shows you how to open up the windows update through vista, shall try again tonight

was my intention at the start to go through them one by one but the download speed when i do it individually is stupid. 1mb file took over ten minutes etc

shall try again tonight though after a restore
