so im wondering, do i downgrade to a 32 bit vista or do i go to windows 7?

i dont know what the drivers are like for 7 so would it be a better bet to go with a 32 bit vista?

Are you trying to use default drivers or actually download them from the manufacture's website. I never put any faith in Microsoft drivers because they either don't work well or are nonexistent.

Now, I did have some problems getting my scanner to work correctly due to a lack of drivers, but there were alternatives. I can't remember exactly what was missing, but I think it lacked WIA support and wouldn't import directly into Photoshop, so I had to scan then load the image... This may have been with my Epson printer (that sucked and was returned) as I'm basically scanning right into Photoshop with my HP...

BTW, you'd probably have more issues going to Windows 7... I've loaded it on a few machines and it's been a real pain to get everything working correctly sometimes.

Please list the specific models of devices you have that aren't working correctly so we can see if there is compatible drivers for them.
