Windows XP & Animations

I just recently got my computer back from the factory (Systemax, they replaced the memory and card reader) and they reformatted my hard drive. Now when I got it back, I noticed that if there were smiley's on websites or forums, they would move. Rolling eyes would roll, jumping smiley's would jump, etc.

I installed some Microsoft updates, and EZ Armour Internet Security Suite which includes a firewall protection and virus program. Then I noticed that the smiley's no longer moved. Also, even on another forum (http://forums.strang.com/index.php) the little symbols on the left no longer are animated.

What settings do I have to fix in order to get the animations back?

Well the little animations are only gifs, so chances are, the ones you were looking at and expecting to move jsut weren't animated. Some are, some aren't.

folder_hot.gif
- Animated
:) - Not animated

If that still doesn't work, try this

Tools, internet options, advanced tab. Under multimedia check the box which says "play animations in webe pages" and there are a few other options you might want to check there too.

Thanks for responding. I never got email notification that I had people who answered me.

elmarcorulz,

The animations moved, and now those same exact ones don't move anymore.
The one you marked 'animated' is not moving, but that same symbol is on a talk forum I use and it doesn't move there either.

The "play animations in web pages" is already checked. But I unchecked it and then re-checked it. Every box under that section is checked off.

It still doesn't work.

Hmmm which browser ru usin?

Try using Firefox or Opera

I am using IE right now (although I have a huge preferenc for firefox). I don't think IE is at satke here because I can see the animated gifs without trouble, whereas jerseygirl says she wouldn't even see the one posted by elmarcorulz.
