Windows XP .dll Compatibility Mode?

I heard from a friend that there is a Windows XP Compatibility Mode for .dll files as well as .exe's... Is this true, and if so, how do I activate/access that part of the OS?

My problem is that when Microsoft in their unending wisdom released SP2, one of my most cherished OLD games stopped working properly. This game was originally designed for 98 First Edition, and has worked fine on my XP system until SP2 was installed on the computer. When SP2 was installed certain parts of the game no longer work, the overall .exe still functions, but little parts of the game no longer get activated or accessed when they should be. So, this is the reason why we surmised that it was an issue with the .dll access after the installation of certain ActiveX controls in SP2. Thanks for any insight!

Right click on the .exe and go to properties. Then go to the Compatibility tab and choose the appropriate settings under Compatibility mode.

Sorry if this was confusing, but I know how to use the compatibility mode on the .exe's, I'm looking for how to use it on the .dll files. Thanks again.
