windows xp install questions

hello, my friend just broke his computer and it wont let him go into either safe mode or the normal mode, he has a computerthat has "two" windows, which means in the startup he can either choose english or korean, but recently his korean ver didnt work, so he ened up only using english but that broke as well, so if he bought a windows XP CD (even though he can't go on windows) can he still install the windows? and if he does install it does that mean the computer won't recognize the video card, sound card etc? because his computer was bought prebuilt that wasnt made by a company but a small computer store and he didnt get a CD for anything such as the graphic card Cd etc, but he recently bought a video card though, please help

To answer that simply upon dual booting two versions of Windows you will need two different cds(one English, one Korean) in order to perform either an "install to repair" on each installation, http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm or a complete reinstall of both meaning deletion of one or both current installations which will be most likely since a different product number is seen and needed. You would be fortunate to be able to save the current partitions and your data as well. If you copy files from each partition(personal, game saves, photos, whatever) you can then use the one or more new installation disks to reformat the drive and install a fresh copy of Windows.

If you are able to pruchase both versions you can use the first to create the primary partition the same size as originally seen by manually entering the size when the installer shows the total. If you had a 40gb drive that would be something like 40,054,210 or 38, 495,200 to give you an illustration. You then would enter 1/2 of that amount in order to split the drive evenly. The second cd for Windows when installing would then be used to create and format the second partition for the other version of Windows.

The upgrade disk requires that a working version of Windows is currently running in order for the installer to run properly. A recovey or better full install cd can simply be booted from to start the install process there. Depending on where you buy from you can get a full install cd for XP with Service Pack 2 included for about $80 U.S. at online vendors like ewiz.com.

With that the installer will first delete the other two partitions and create one single primary for the English version. But the important thing there is to save any current files from the drive you are referring to that are wanted. XP is one version that seems to prefer a new partition especially with a new cd.
