Windows xp & Linus OS

You can install Linux on the second partition. It is called Dual Booting. lots of tutorials posted on the internet on how to do it.
 
Make sure you partition your HDD in order to do this, but I recommend that you use ubuntu or Linux Mint on the second partition :)

Thanks, I'm downloading Ubuntu to a cd and will play with from there before I re-partition my HDD. If need be, I can use wubi and use it alongside windows, at least that's what wubi info states.
