can someone tell me whats the major difference between xp and xp media edition, im thinking of upgrading. if you have ever used it, what were your first impressions of it. any informaton would be greatly appreciated.

If you are planning to watch, record TV, or video editing then it is worth it to have media center. The cost is only $10-15 more. Now if you already have XP, then you probably don't need the upgrade. There are other programs (some free) that will sort of do what Media Center does.

my initial thoughts for it was that it was great, then i got my "MCE Compatable" TV tuner, plugged it in a scanned for channels with media centre, only got a couple, used the supplied software and got them all, if you already have XP then it's not worth the upgrade, it looks good at first, but then after a week the joys of having a fancy and annoying thing lying on your computer wears out

its really nice... if you have memory to spare... i had it for a few months and it was great but i realized that it takes more memory than XP PRo and Home...
i.e. i installed windows xp mce and right after install nothing elserunning my PF usage was 150MB... my PF usage right after i installed XP PRo was 85MB...

I don't know if Media Center is blame for that or the "TV Tuner". More than likely it would be the TV tuner. Both of my MCE computers pull in all the channels the same as my TVs. I use a Hauppauge TV tuner.
