windows xp media edition?

i have the media edition on my laptop. i try hooking my directv to the s-video and it keeps saying "no signal". can i get some help?

i guess it could be out. it has an arrow pointing to the right.

the plug on the right is for what? i tried "help" but it is pretty lame instructions.
 
You would need a TV tuner in order to watch TV on your laptop. S-Video and DVI/VGA are output only.

$900 for a laptop, half the crap on here is trial. now i have to buy something for the media center to run the tv that they use as a tool to sell it. LOL! i love it.

$900 is pretty cheap for a laptop actually, and you need to buy a USB TV Tuner/Video capture card. I've never seen them built into laptops unless you have a video card with VIVO.

You can buy some USB capture cards for under $100 at best buy that are decent.
