I recently put together a computer and put 6 sticks of 2 GB RAM onto an ASUS board running Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and it only shows 9.99GB of RAM when I right click on My Computer under properties. Should this be occurring?

I would say you have a bad stick of ram. But why would you need 12gb of ram? What do you use your computer for?

Start->Run->type MSCONFIG->Boot->Advanced Options-> Check that maximum memory isnt checked.

However, being that you seem to be missing the amount of all DIMM's minus one, you may just have a defective stick of memory or one isnt fully inserted into the slot, try removing and reinserting all DIMM's.
