windows xp problem

i had a old emachine windows xp pre-installed and i put that hard drive in my new computer xp boots then crashes after it boots, tried to open in safe mode but says it needs to be registered
 
You can't just take a hard drive with windows installed on it from another computer and put it in a different computer and expect it to boot without at least doing a repair install as the onboard hardware is not the same as the original computer.
 
... do you have an xp installation cd?- im guessing that'll work, and you can transfer all the old content from your old drive somehow...
