Hi! Im not sure if this is a common problem but here goes:

For some reason the other day,my computer restarted and started to work in only 640x480 resolution with 16-bit colours (i have no idea why!) It will not let me raise the slider to make a higher resolution :(

I have reinstalled Windows and the monitor seems to be connected and is recognised.

Also, another problem which occurred at the same time is that my "@" key brings up " and when i press the " key it brings up "@" Im not sure if this is related to my resolution problem or not,i have tried everything, please help (im missing playing RTW!) :)

Oh,could you try explain to me using as few technical terms as possible (i dont know a lot about PCs and stuff :P )

Thanks for your time!

Didn't XP restarted on safe mode? That resolution is perfectly normal for safe mode.
The @ and " keys could swap their place if you change the keyboard layout from US to UK.

Hmm,how can i check if my pc is in Safe Mode? I don't think i've ever seen a Windows XP PC in Safe Mode (is it the same as what happens in previous Windows ME,98 etc when the desktop in the background goes white?)

How can i change the keyboard layout from US to UK? :P

Thanks very much!

Change keyboard lay out on windows XP (category view)

Start button > control panel button > date, time, language and regional options button > regional and language options link > languages tab > Details button >

there u go :)

i had the same "problem" when I reinstalled windows, you need to reinstall your graphics driver w=once you do that you will be all set :)
