Windows XP shutdown

I keep getting this message sometimes that says:

System Shutdown
This system is shutting down. Please save all
work in progress and log off. Any unsaved
changes will be lost. This shutdown was
initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM

Time before shutdown: 60 seconds

Message
The system process
'C"\WINDOWS\system32\isass.exe'
terminated unexpectedly with status code
-1073741819. The system will now shut
down and restart.

I have scanned for viruses and have found none. What could be causing this and is there any way to fix it?

i donot know what is ur original problem, may be u r connected to the network, but this may help:
if u want to abort the shutdown, then go to start --> run --> shutdown -a
-a ==> for the abort.

are you sure its isass.exe and not lsass.exe.
Becasue isass.exe is known virus, you should run all teh virus and anitspy ware you can get your hands on.

as houssam_ballout said you can prevent shutdown during the count down by typing shutdown -a in the run dialog box

isass.exe , that's a very bad virus, thanks u apj101 for the link and for ur information.

Actually I believe it is Lsas, I faced this problem more than once, download stinger.exe and blaster.exe scan for worms and remove them if found . After that download SP2 and install it. Actually this is an error that happens due to a fault in winXP sp1.

Install WindowsXP-KB835732-x86-En(or your OS language version).EXE to fix it.
