Windows XP SP2

I've recently installed windows XP SP2 with no problems.

What I want to know is where can I find the source-file because I'm planning on reformatting my c-drive and completely reinstalling XP. When I do so I want to have SP2 on CD ready to install manually because I heard it's risky to log-on to the web using XP if it hasn't been updated.

The other question I have is: Can I just install SP2 straight over XP or do I need to install SP1 first?

Thanks in advance.

1. To my knowledge there is no way to DL SP2 as a standalone.
2. You can always slipstream and not have to worry about doing any of the damn updates :)

I dunno as i dont use SP2 although considering the methodology by which you update to SP2 (windows update), you wont have much of a choice. You can always try updating without SP1 or SP1a and you'll find out if you need them or not. Of course slipstreaming would solve that problem :)

...or you could just save the files on another computer and get them after the format. i got mine after my dad got it off the CD onto our server, i just took it from him and installed it. he got it in the mail from microsoft i believe...on a couple CD's.

Yes that would be the entire point :P MS is only allowing Download via WindowsUpdate now. The copy your dad has (unsurprisingly) is the Network Admin version (which i suspect is the same as the CD version)
