Windows XP System Event log

Hello, i'm having a problem with the system eventlog of the computer of my girlfriend. As she is working in another country we wanted to talk on skype but she said that she had no internet, she tried several times in the day to access internet but couldn t manage. As the next the she had internet again i said to her to go to the system event log and what i saw there was very weird. there was no any event from that day. Last event was 3 o clock in the night and the next was at 8h in the evening. This means that 17hours where blanco. Is there a logical explanation for this as before there where events and after too.

she said that the system was on and tried to connect with internet. normally it records every event.

Welcome to the world of Microsoft log files, and their extreme lack of information. This is pretty typical behavior and in fact logging didn't get revamped until Vista was released and it is still very lacking.
