Windows Xp Taskbar, HELP, URGENT

Whenever I click search my windows taskbar freezes and the search program doesn't open and I have to restart my computer, right now as I type I haven't even clicked search and my taskbar has stopped working and I will have to restart, how can I fix this?? I've never come across this problem before.

try running a couple of virus scans and adware stuff. If that doesn't work try installing Window XP.

Nope, done all that and it's still doing it, urgh, another windows reinstall

ya, best idea to is to do a reinstall, my guess is that ur search file is missing somehow

i've had that happen to me, with the search feature not working. I guess there was a virus or adware program that attached itself to a file the the windows search utility uses, so i had to do a reinstall.

Does the rest of the Start menu work ? Try the Windows key and s keys for some kbd's
