windows xp updates

i have just got my new computer and i have installed xp on it fine. all seems to be working except the automatic updates. i have them turned on in the control panel bit but usally when i do a clean install of xp it downloads loads of updates but it just isnt doing anything i carnt even upgrade to the newest msn because of it.

anyone know whats going on??

Why don't you go to the Microsoft website and download all the updates first. It's very possible that one of the updates fixes that, especially if you are missing a few service packs.
