windows xp virtual machine help

I installed windows xp media center on a virtual machine, and it went seamlessly, until i tried to login. when i tried to it said i had to activate windows first, so i did and i activated over internet, which failed, so i used the phone activation which went good, and activated successfully, then logged me out. when i try to login it still tells me that windows needs to be activated so i click yes and it tells me that windows is already activated so i click ok and it proceeds to log me out. And seriously why would you even make a windows is already activated screen. and yes I have tried clicking no on the would you like to activate screen it just logs me out again.

The .dbl file for windows activation has corrupted and is no longer allowing access into the computer.

  1. Boot Computer into Standard Safe Mode without networking.
This will allow your computer to boot and access the desktop without having to worry about activation.
    • Do a search on the hard drive for the following files:
    • wpa.dblb. wpa.bak (This may or may not be found. If it is not there, this is okay)
  2. Open the registry
  3. Navigate to HKEY_Local_Machine>>Software>>Microsoft>>WindowsNT>>Current Version>>WPAEventsb. On the righthand side, we are going to edit OOBETimerc. Double click on the OOBETimerd. Delete any two hexadecimal values (numbers or letters). Click Ok
  4. Close out of registry
  5. Reboot computer
  6. Reactivate Windows - Update the Product Key if nececssary
  7. If the automatic activation does not work then call Microsoft to reactivate Windows

sorry it took me so long to respond thanks for your help but i have found that you can download virtual machines from microsoft preactivated and free but i did and when i open it it tells me that i have 3 days and the evaluation period will be over, so in 3 days i'll see what happens and might use your fix on the old vm

There's your problem then. Also, you won't get any more help here regarding this topic. It's against forum rules to discuss pirated, or otherwise illegal software.
