Windows XP Won't Boot prt.2

The same thing is happening w/ my external hdd, which is a buffalo 500gb with turboUSB technology [thats what the box says]... If i turn on my comp w/ the external plugged in...it stays stuck ont he windows xp loading screen. I went to device manager and whatnot and it will uninstall and reinstall, then i resarts comp, it'll boot. If i restart once again...no boot. what do i do????

Hmm thats odd.. try uninstalling/reinstalling it again, but before you reboot this time try changing the drive letter in start > control panel > admin tools > computer management > disk management. then right click the external drive and click "change drive letter and paths"
