is service pack 2 the latest update for this operating system? when i click on windows update it says im fully updated but i clearly remember my x86 operating system telling me it was service pack 3. just wondering since they're both windows xp, but technically they are different products released at different times.

Have you had any problems with XP x64? I've heard nothing but bad about that OS...

I haven't had many problems with XP Pro x64, just that a few products just don't have drivers for it.

xp pro x64s service pack 2 is not = xp service pack 2

xp pro 64 is in fact not xp at all, its based on server 2003

it uses the service packs from that. a SRP or SP for server 2003 may be released in the future(if ever)

the only real problem i have with it is that iTunes doesnt support it. their 64-bit drivers for vista work with it, but their installer wont download on XP x64, and if you download from a mirror elsewhere the installer refuses to recognize XP x64 as a compatible operating system... when in reality it does work with it lol

im seriously considering just upgrading to Vista x64 because of DX10, but we shall see lol.. i need a lot more money to get a new comp, after i buy a new car lol

thats why its servcie packs get releaed at the same time nearly as server 2003 does, and why its currently at SP2. if you check the system files of XP pro x64 RTM they are NT 5.2.x and happen to be the same versions "out of the box" as server 2003 sp1, the codebase it was built upon.

thats also why it includes IIS6 and not IIS5

Also you may be interested to know that windows home server isnt based on vista or 2008, but on Server 2003 SBS
