ok i have a dell laptop that has vista on it i am putting on there windos xp but when i put the cd in it does not give me the option to install i can click on it's like you can see it but it's not a option what is wrong

If you inserted the cd in vista, it may not let you, because xp is older.
Boot from the cd to get a chance to install.

i do but it wont give me the option of install it just asked start window normally etc safe mode etyc

when you turn on your computer it should have an option to open the boot menu probably f4 or f10. Press that then it should give you an option to boot from the cd drive.
