winows wont install, wont boot

well my laptop was running fine untill one day halfway through a update i shut the laptop downby mistake and tried to start it back up and got a disk read error. so i go to reinstall windows, but when i boot from the cd nothing happens, the disc will spin but the blue install screen wont show, i've tried 3 differn't windows cd's and 2 burnt ones. nothing . any ideas i reall need this up in running for school.i was thinking tha the hd might be dead.

Even if the hard drive was bad you would still get to the beginning of windows installation. You have other issues if you don't get the install part of it to come up.
 
That's possible. Have you tried any other bootable cd's such as a memtest cd or anything like that?
 
Okay... I think I have the solution. I've had this happen to me a few times. First, do you have another desktop close to you?
