WinVista-->7 Memory?

Hey, I just thought about this...
When XP came out, computers had relatively low memory sizes, and then when Vista was released, memory had to be upgraded to the semi-standard 4GB/6GB or else computers would have massive lagging issues. Now that 7 is out, memory hasn't changed much because 7's memory use is similar to that of XP. To me, it seems like no one will be upgrading from one PC to another any time soon. Am I right in thinking this?

It all depends on how old the hardware is in your system, and if windows 7 has drivers for everything.

That's a pretty good point, but I just can't help thinking that those jacked up (memory wise) computers will be good for another two years while 7 is out.
