WinXP updates

Hi,

I've just reinstalled XP on my desktop. Everything seemed to go OK. I've installed SP3 and the latest installer. However, when I try to get updates, all I get is the green progress bar unrelentingly moving across the screen without apparently doing anything.

Thanks. It did eventually, but it's taken hours, and took 99% of the fire power.

You may have encountered a bug. Check Task Manager and look to see if svchost.exe is stuck at 100%.

You don't really need any updates after SP3 if you ask me.If XP works fine then no need to update it with the updates after SP3.No new updates will be coming out for it anymore anyway.
So if everything works fine then don't update it after SP3 UNLESS if you need some specific update to fix a specific problem on your OS but ONLY if that bug occurs otherwise there is no point in installing ALL OTHER updates after SP3.
Many people complain that XP works slower after installing all those updates anyway...

Not really. It's older than some of the youngest kids in my school. It came out when I was in nursery and now I'm in my final year of school.
