How do i wipe all data from my laptop? i have a broken windows OS, And ubuntu? I wanna kill it all... ALL!!!!! how do i do it?

If you want to use ubuntu to do it, use gparted (included with ubuntu) and delete the partition and recreate it. You should be able to use a windows CD to do it as well.

Does the ubuntu installer not have a way to delete partitions? You could use a gparted liveCD to delete them as well. Any bootable CD with a partitioner should be able to do it

All you have to do is delete the partitions on the hard drive and the stuff on it is gone. I don't know if the windows installer will let you delete a unix partition or not, I assume so but you can use GParted if you want. Bootup a GParted liveCD and right click on a partition and pick delete. Repeat until they are all gone.

This image is showing a filesystem conversion but the delete option is near the top of the right click menu.

Realy sorry but i dont understand. Maby i shoudn't dlete ubuntu as well, ill just stick with windows. ( deleting it, that is. )

If you are sure there's nothing you need a very easy way to erase everything is by using http://dban.sourceforge.net/

It makes a bootable floppy (or CD or USB key) and wipes everything from any hard drive it can find. The instructions are here

After using DBAN, all the partitions and everything else will be gone.

wait windows xp wouldnt be taking up that much space? just thinking all the junk ive got on there is. But its broken :(. Everytime i try to do something it starts instaling microsoft office... wtf?

OK im gonna do it... Wipe all data... You all watch me... heh.
But is there a way to Make ubuntu go back to it was when you first installed and uninstall windows from ubuntu? That would be alot easier..

With DBAN? You just put it in and away it goes. It will find pretty much any hard drive on it's own so you don't need drivers for that step. You may need drivers when you install an OS but for the wiping stage you should be fine without.

Kinda asking will i need drivers to install ubuntu. When i first installed didnt need to install any drivers is it still the same?
