Can anyone reccomend any free programs for me to use to wipe a hard drive? I need to erase all the data on my old drive/computer-and it doesnt have a floppy drive. Thanks,
Chris
If you slave a drive to another with a working copy of Windows you simply use a free Linux tool know as Eraser 5.82 found at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=37015&package_id=65323 You will notice the three different forms it can be downloaded in. executable for 32bit, executable for 64bit versions, and in zip file for possible burn to cd-r.
The tool there along with some retail products can be thorough if you are planning to sell a used drive/system. For reinstalling Windows you found out the XP installer will delete the current and create a new primary easy enough. Another great partitioning tool used on Vista as well here is another free Linux tool GParted live for cd, the Gnome Partition Editor in it's full name.
