Hey I posted a topic awhile ago on wiping my comp clean. But my post history isnt working idk why, but the deal is i built my new comp, and am giving my old one to my parents, but i want everything gone so they start on a clean slate. Also so they cant get my stuff back.. private things you know?

How do you wipe a comp?
 
I assume your running windows xp? If you are, then it's really easy to just re-format the harddrive. Do you know how to do this?
 
I agree, re-formatting the hard drive would be the best way. I would delete the old partition and install Windows on the new (clean) partition.
 
If you don't even want the OS on it anymore I recommend Boot and Nuke. Data is IMPOSSIBLE to retrieve as it is MUCH more effective than a format. However, I decided to do this on my little 160gig HD at about 10PM and it went on to 1. When you have to get up really early the next morning, fans blowing and the occasional LED colour revolving - it gets on your nerves.
 
When i did mine, it took about 3 hours with a 200gb harddrive, and i did it about 5 or 6 days ago... works perfect now...
