wiping hardrive

can anyone tell me how to wipe a hardrive clean without logging into windows my laptop hardrive comes up saying lsass.exe failed to execute or some shit and iver tried fixing it w/e
i jsut want to completely wipe the hardrive clean
i do no have the xp disc anymore but my friend has his and i have my key code so afterwards would taht still work?

Boot of the XP disc, and install windows and you can select to format the hard drive.
