Wired Router Help...Please

I have my computer desk and wired router on one side of the room and have one cable running to the other side connected to my Xbox 360 currently. With Blu-Ray advancing, I'm wondering if I can just use a splitter of some kind to get internet connection to both a Blu-Ray and my Xbox instead of running a second (or third for additional components) cable clear across the room from the router. Any feedback? If I can use a splitter of sorts, is there one that someone has used that works well for them? Anything special to look for?

PS: I realize I could go wireless, but feel more secure with wired in my area...too close to other houses.

A cheap network switch will do the job nicely. A 4 or 5 port will be the smallest, but relatively cheap.

Look for a switch rather than a hub, although I guess this does not matter hugely as neither item is likely to be using the connection at the same time for long durations.

A cheap netgear FS605 would be fine.

Sorry, I am UK, so do not want to link to any sites selling the kit, as it is pretty pointless for you!
