Hi, I've been tryingfor 2 days to set up a wireless access point & I have more success in raising the dead.
I got a Toshiba laptop with wireless & an ASUS WL-330g access point. The laptop refuses to setup on home lan which has the stongest signal & the access point, well it judt doesn't want t o co-operate. Who should I configure 1st what can I do?
All advice greatly appreciated.

what operating system do you have on the toshiba, and what service pack is it?

Have you tried pluging your laptop directly to the Wireless Hub using a network cable? You should do this first usualy. Then open internet explore and enter an IP like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1(should tell you in the user guide what its default IP is. This will then connect you to the Setup area of the Wireless Hub where you can then change the wireless settings etc...

I can tell you on my D-Link modem wireless Router.. I had to connect the RJ45 cable first... Then i had to go into IE.. in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 Then i had to setup my internet user account....

Do not use wep to setup....

Make sure you are broadcasting you SSID

Make sure you are transmitting B/G

Ok now i need to know are you using windows XP?

If yes...

Goto control panel... Network conections... Your wireless adapter... Properties...

Check on the first tab you have TCP/IP enabled.

Next click the Wireless network Tab and click (use windows to configure my wireless settings)
On theWireless network Tab tab click advance ( at the bottom not the top) and make sure you have (any available network) selected

Then go to then go back to the Wireless network Tab click configure
Select from the list.. it should be the first on the list.... (ad hoc opperational mode... From the drop down menu selct B/G mode.. click ok and try to start your wireless... Hope this helps a little...

After you have it connected it's good to take off the SSID other wise any one can connect to your WIFI lan and eat your bandwidth and stuff.
