Wireless adapter problem?

Hey all,

We've got a laptop computer running Windows 8 and using a Netgear WNR2000 wireless router that hooks me up to the internet. So here's the problem. Lately, when hitting a hyperlink, the arrow will spin, and finally, it will say it can't connect. I hit the button for troubleshooting and it comes up with a dialog box that says, "Problem with wireless adapter or access point." It will then say it's fixed.

But here's the aggravation: we have to keep doing this about every 4th or 5th time.

Any suggestions on what's causing this, or what I might do to troubleshoot the problem?

Thanks to all you networking experts out there.

I would update the wireless driver first and test. If it still happens then it could be the router.

Nope. Sorry, that didn't work. It keeps telling me, in the troubleshooting box, that it is resetting the wireless router. Why does it have to reset it every time? So do you think I just have a router that is going out?

Hey, thanks. I appreciate your help thus far.

Do you have net gear software installed that is telling you that it reset the router? Windows alone can't reset your router. Are you sure it didn't say resetting wireless adapter? Is there a firmware update for the router?

Sorry John, am I bad. I just had the problem again, and rushed back to say it said "wireless network adapter", but you beat me to the punch. I'll check on the firmware updates though.

Thanks again.
