I just recently switched O/S to XP Pro and all works except 2 things and need some help if you could. 1. the Intel(R)Pro wireless 3945ABG seems to be not working. I looked at the device manager and no yellow question marks. When I turn it on manually the blue light goes on. I downloaded from microsoft the driver from their detection tool. If I refresh wireless devices it see's none for the list in my area.
2. The second thing is if i go to device manager i see all yellow question marks for all the devices listed as other devices.

You need to install drivers for everything that says other devices that has yellow question marks next to them.

Downloaded the suggested drivers for the adapter but still nothing. The adapter was working yesterday but on a different O/S.

I switched from vista to xp pro. The computer is a hp 4400 that was originally with xp. The sytem is a hp nc4400.

Disable and unistall the device through Device Manager. Then use the CD that the adapter came with and follow the directions by installing the adapter before you plug it in. It should work. If not, then check to see if it's even in the Control Panel as the network adapters should show. If it doesn't, then you're failing at the installation. If it does, try repairing the connection and running "ipconfig/all" at a command screen to see if there's an issue with connectivity.

I uninstalled driver at device mgr and re-installed from hp.com and the device shows up in device mgr. Still nothing after switching it on with the button on the side. If i open the connection window i see the connection with red thru it and it says firewalled.

Right click on that icon and click on view available wireless networks. If it doesn't show your wireless network then either the wireless card is bad or your router isn't broadcasting the ssid of your network.

Well i have a netbook thats wireless and it works fine. I guess the adapter in this lapyop took a dump. It is iteresting though that 2 days ago it worked fine on vista. I switched back to XP pro and it never came came. I wonder if sp3 as opposed to sp2 has anything to do with it. Anyway thanks so much for all your help.

So it doesn't see any wireless networks? Try going somewhere that has free wireless and see if it will connect to it. I highly doubt that SP3 has anything to do with it.
