I was upgrading to Wireless Broadband but I'm confused as to how it works
Can someone explain on how it works and what I need

Wireless meaning local wireless to your computer, or as you stated wireless boradband (satelite dish, microwaves etc...)

I think you mean satelite dish broadband. Here in the bay area there is a company which provides this, at very high speeds. But your paying for the speeds too. They were advertising 6mb down and up, for 350/mo. I think Direcway does the same.

Found this pic, i like pics maybe it will help..

No I mean wireless broadband like from BT ones that have a wireless router. I want to know if I have to put in a card or what?

There's wireless LANs using 802.11a,b,or g standards where it just takes your corrent network and converts it to this so you can access it using cards.

There's also internets using cellular networks(cell phones) which is much slower than standard internet(about 14.4 speeds) and it's much more expensive, but you are only restricted to where you can get a signal.

best setup is to have the router your ISP gives you (usually not wireless), connected to your router (wireless capable) with an ethernet cable, and you connect your computer to it via a wireless PCI adapter you need to install in your computer. You'll need to set the ISP router to "bridge mode" (call them and ask them how), and set your router to do the authentication and syncing (PPPoE). Get a wireless router with an SPI firewall built in and also set encryption and don't broadcast your SSID. You'll need to set your adapter card with these settings to connect. I personally also employ MAC address filtering so that only my computers can connect to my router.

Is this the info you wanted? :)

I recommend getting a wireless router with the modem built in, there not much more exprensive and they save on the wires, which is the point i think.

As for security i agrees with Byteman, use an encryption WPA preferably. Dont broadcast SSID, turn of DCHP, and employ MAC encryption.

Within range of my flat i have 4 other wireless networks all using wep encryption. If i wasn't so honest i'd run aircrack on their arses. But hey they are my neighbours
