Wireless connection keeps disconnecting randomly

Lately my wireless internet connection keeps disconnecting randomly and reconnecting for about 5 seconds and disconnecting again. Sometimes it stays connected for longer. It's strange because my xbox live still stays connected all the time whereas the wireless icon in the system tray on my laptop keeps saying disconnected and connected randomly. I have restarted the router many times and disabled and re-enabled the wifi but still no success. What could be the problem? Dodgy network card in my laptop maybe?

Try updating the wireless driver first. If that don't work, you may have a dying wireless adapter.

All my drivers are updated. I have this laptop for a long time though so its probably giving up.

I think you may have a compatibility issue there. Are you using wireless B,G or N? If you are using a PCMCIA card that uses wireless B...that is no good my friend. Buy yourself a Wireless G or N card ($15.00).

I think I'm using a wireless G router but my laptop probably has B or something. Not entirely sure.
