Wireless connection VS My toshiba A30 satellite

Well looking at the specs, I dont think you've got a wireless card installed. You'll have to get a wireless PCMIA card or USB version for your system to communicate. Now it won't communicate if something wont communicate with it. So you'll also need a wireless router or access point for it to communicate with. So if you've got broadband hooked up to the wireless router or access point, then you're computer can communicate with it wirelessly to access the internet or see other computers in your network.

o...k :p

You know, i think I'm not too good in those technical terms :p
I don't understand what you mean by access point or router. But what I know is that I need my laptop to surf the internet wirelessly inside my school. Look here for more info.: http://www.wireless.utoronto.ca/

So, I think I need a wireless card now right? and then install it by putting it in my PC card slot? or USB? right?

Can any of you recommend me which wireless card is good to buy?

Actually, I THINK my laptop doesnt' have wireless card. Is there any way that I can check if I've a wireless installed in my laptop?

Well if the link you gave earlier is indeed your unit, then it doesnt come with one. I dont want to screw other brands, but I haven't had a problem with Netgear. I've found them more affordable, more reliable, and have a better connection. Dlink is cheaper... in more ways than one. I would buy a wireless card at your local store (maybe your school sells them too), and then go to your school for them to set it up for you. I'm sure there's passwords or gateways that they need to install into your system to give you access.

You'll need a PCMIA wireless card. Try to get a B/G version. The card looks something like this.

It's a difference between 11mbps and 54mbps. If you're not doing any file transfers, then a 11mbps will do just fine. Internet only travels at a max rate of 10 anyways. But I only said get a B/G so you can keep it for future usage. There is A/B/G also, but not a lot of people use "A" and it's probably more expensive anyways. Out of your 3 links, I'd get the Netgear. A USB dongle is good also, but they're prone to breakage (easy to bend).

Can you tell me how fast is 54Mbps? is like 5.4mb/sec? if yes, then IT"S FAST!!!

Mbps stands for millions of bits per second or megabits per second and is a measure of bandwidth. Now these are MAX, most won't ever hit the max rate. The only difference you'll see between the B and G speeds are if you were transfering a large file to another computer. A file like a giant Photoshop file/picture. But for internet, you wont see it.

hmmm...what if I download a file off the internet....let say the file is 300mb. With my cable connection, i can download MAX 300k/sec. So what can a 54Mbps wireless card download?

It'll download at the same. No major difference between the 2 except for larger file transfers within your network.

So lets say you want to transfer your extensive porn collection to your desktop computer. You'll be able to transfer up to 54mbps with a G and only up to 11 with a B. If it takes you 5 hrs to do so with a B, then it'll cut it in about 1/5 of the time with a G. So you can have more time to download more porn off the internet at 10mbps. :P

Cool :D
Well that mean Wireless connection seem faster than Cable overall I guess....?
Well with a hardline, you'll always get a better connection. With a hardline you'll get 100mbps up to 1000. With wireless, you can get interference from anything. From a cordless phone, too many walls, or a really big fat guy (just kidding:D). With a hardline, it's always up there.
