wireless internet help

I've got a netgear lan/wlan router and a netgear wg111v2 adapter. The adapter connects to the router fine, but the internet connection that I get is extremely slow. I used to be able to get about 800 kb/s, but now it's constantly under 100 kb/s. There are laptops with built-in wifi, and a computer connected to the router via ethernet cable that are getting 600 kb/s to 1000 kb/s. What may be the problem here?


system info:
windows vista home 64bit.
8gb ram.
intel quad 2.33ghz.

Try using a different wireless adapter. Those usb adapters are buggy at best.
