i hear many thing about how you need certain drivers and what not for wireles internet on ubuntu...i went to their forums and read a guide but everything that was in it, i couldnt find when i was trying it.

now, i have an idea...i have heard there a windows emulators for linux such as WINE? i think? would i be able to get one, put it on a flash drive, install it on linux then be able to run a .exe to install drivers for wireless or something? if so does anyone have a link to one of these emulators?

thanks.

The emulator wouldnt work like that, you could probably run .exe files but it wouldnt odo anything such as install it into linux. To use windows drivers inside the linux kernel you need somethignlike the ndiswrapper. Its easy if you get it right the first time, mess it up and your screwed until you reistall linux. LOL

Ive been wrestling with it for the last week or so, still no joy but it does work.

An emulator is not what you need, i still havent got wireless inside ubuntu, im stuck on ethernet, which isnt ideal in my situation, i need wireless to work, ndiswraper SHOULD work, its jsut i cant get it to work

Its free, go to lpaces like sourceforge etc... to get it
