Wireless internet problem

My dad and i both got new computers around Christmas time. I have a laptop and my dad has a Computer. We have the wireless internet and both of us cannot use the interent. If one of our internets works the others doesn't and it tells us somthin about and "IP address"? my dad does somthing to fix it. Anyone have any idea whats wrong?

yeah i think... go to your NETWORK CONNECTION window click on INTERNET PROTOCAL TCP/IP click PROPETIES and on the GENERAL tab and then click on the "obtain an ip address automatically" OR you can choose your own by clicking "use the following ip address"

it is likely that your internet provider only gives you one ip address.
i think you can configure it in internet connection sharing. not sure tho, because basically ive never gotten internet to work on 2 comps using one line.
