Wireless keyboard and mouse with desktop and laptop?

I currently have a computer hooked up to my TV in my basement for things like netflix, games, etc, but I also have my laptop which I use for general internet browsing and other various things. Ideally, I would like to be able to use my keyboard on my laptop and a wireless mouse with my desktop PC, but if this is not possible, I'd like to be able to use my wireless mouse and keyboard with both my desktop and laptop. the main issue I've come across is the fact that I do not want and really can't have any cables going from my desktop to my laptop. Is there any way I can do this?

Also, I have tried using Teamviewer and still do on occasion, but it can be quite laggy at times and videos don't work well at all.
