wireless keyobard/ mice ?

this thought may seem a little crazy, but it will still be asked. my dell was attacked with spyware. had the reciever for my keyboard and mouse in the computer the whole time. got a new computer, and plugged it in, and it was soon infected with the same spyware. this is the question, is it possible for the virus to "stick" with the receiver and infect the new computer? that and my flash drive, which hadnt been plugged into my dell for like a week before the virus, were the only things that had been plugged into the new laptop.

well i am still puzzled by this. i got the new computer, and only plugged in my flash drive, which is not infected, it has been plugged into a few computers since the attack. and the receiver. and some are saying the internet could of given me it again, but it would of hit other computers than just mine if that was the case, i was using a wireless router.

Read some articles about factory workers inadvertly infecting computers while doing quality assurance testing. Don't know if this applies to your puter but would contact manufactor.

Sounds like you have something that can spread across the network.....

Post a Hijackthis log:

  • Download Hijackthis from here
  • Open Hijackthis
  • Click on "Do a system Scan Only"
  • Click on "save log"
  • A notepad window will open
  • Hit Ctrl + A
  • Copy + paste in a forum reply

Then we can go from there.

if it was the network, would it affect other computers on the router? i am the only one that was hit.

Well it would go through the router and onto the other computers, but we can fix your problem and may be able to stop it before it get's to the other computers, if it is a network virus!

what i am getting at is that it attacked not one, but both of my computers. seems unlikely to just attack mine, with out it being some kind of device that was plugged in.

Then it could be a network virus the you have got some how......

As said above, pls post a Hijackthis log and we can help you get rid of it.
