ok so heres the problem, i have my computer in my room and my bro has his in the office (where the net is). up to now we have been playing internet games, SOF2, he connects his comp to the net and then i ruyn a lan cable from my comp to his, about a 20m cord. this cord has to go throughout the whole house, so it gets in the way. so i was thinking what if i had to get a wireless lan setup so that we didnt need to use the cord. is this a good idea? if so can you reccomend a good product?

thanks

If your router is already wi-fi capable, the only thing you'll need is either a wireless USB adapter or a wireless PCI card for computer . If you decide to go with the USB adapter I'd recommend the Linksys model #WUSB54G and for the PCI card....model #WMP54G. Both have outstanding range and I've never had a problem with either one.

Just make sure the wall between you guys is not really thick, as walls and such can kill wireless signals sometimes. It should be no problem if you get a decent router, but cheaper ones may have a problem or your wall may contain piping or shielding that really kills the signals. Only way to tell is to try, unfortunately. I think you'll be OK though if its just one room away, my router is on the other side of the house and I still get a full signal, 54Mbps.
