wireless laptop don't work

I have a wireless laptop that works but we switch routers from a D-Link 524 to a D-Link 655 and I have 3 computers on Ethernet and my Roku works but after 4 hours with D-Link Tech support it still can't connect to the Internet wireless but is ok with Ethernet. Anyone has any ideas?

Does anything connect to it wirelessely? Try removing the security to see if it will connect? If nothing will connect to it with the security off then the router is bad.

What happens when you try to connect using the laptop? What operating system is it running? Do you have the latest driver for the wireless card?

It ask for passphrase which I put in which I know is correct. Then after about 2 minutes it failed. There is no wireless card because it's built in. OS is Vista. It works fine on the other router but after 4 hours with D-Link tech support it still don't work

It is not built in. It is a removable part like RAM or a Hard Drive, just a little less accessible in most cases.

Delete all wireless connections and reset it back up. Open network and sharing center, on the left hand side, you will see where it says manage wireless networks, click on it. Delete all connections and try setting up the connection again. Also try disabling security on the router to see if you can connect. If you can, then its a security issue.

Everything connects to the router but I don't know how to take off the security?

You need to access the routers configuration page and disable the security on it. So dlink didn't have you try doing this? Is it possible that you have a static ip address set for the laptop? You should set it to obtain ip address automatically.

Now the laptop won't work with the Ethernet cable and say it has an IP conflict. All my computers have an IP address starting with 192 and the laptop has an IP address starting with 169. I did an ipconfig and on ipv4 is where I got the IP addresses. I tried to do an ipconfig/release but it won't release the IP address because of the wireless media.

The 169 just means it doesn't have a valid local address like the 192 number. Do you have all other machines set to obtain ip address automatically? This has to be a setting issue somewhere.
