wireless mouse interference

in my mums office her computer is setup in the room directly behind the room that i use my laptop in. there is about 3-4 metres between her desktop and my laptop and we have just realised that when i am using my laptop the wireless mouse is interfering with the wireless mouse on her computer, causing it to be extremely laggish and sometimes not work at all.

firstly has anyone heard of this before? and secondly is it possible to change the frequencies of one of the mice so they won't interfere with each other? that was the only thing i could think of which might work.

cheers, kain.

With a laptop you can move around to get further away. The increase in distance would help reduce any interference. If they are the same make and model distance would be a must. For different makes and models operatting on different frequencies the distance wouldn't have to be as far. The frequencies are predetermined by the manufacturer. You could consider having a corded mouse for one of them?

Try resyncing them with the computers, maybe you'd get different frequencies that wouldn't interfear so much... Also, might they have different channel options? My Memorex mouse has a Channel 1 and 2 which is probably for such problems.

If they are using the same brand that would be one item to be needed there. I'm sure no one wants to see a large section of plywood covered with aluminum foil being put inplace to stop anything from interfering. That wouldn't go over so well. Unfortunately that's a common type of problem seen with a large number of wireless devices. On two way radio it's called bleed over between two channels.
