Wireless Net Access Question (Ext. Antenna)

Greetings all.

.....my brother has a linksys wireless card that he will be putting into the back of his Dell DESKTOP and as you know, that card comes with a small antenna for wireless access...

...he has obtained an EXTERNAL yagi/beam antenna for wireless and wants to use it to acquire a better signal from wherever he is currently getting his signal from BY RUNNING A COAX CABLE OF PROPER FREQUENCY to the "connector" that the small antenna screws onto...has anyone ever done this?...does it work?....will it work?......THANKS

As long is has the proper connection for the antenna it will work fine.
