i went to customers house and they got a acer laptop and there tryinjg to get on there wireless network but everytime i try and connect to it cant and says limited or no connectivity so it gives me a list of options, i tryed everything i can think of reassign new ip address to that computer (one of the repair fixes on the help and support) reseted the router, went into the router config page and check the wireless options there all fine, restarted the laptop but still no joy

To resolve DHCP configuration problems, proceed to the following steps.
6. Reboot your computer, router (if present) and broadband modem together, then re-test your connection.
7. If your connection remains non-functional, run the Windows Network Repair utility on your computer.
8. If your connection remains non-functional, update your router settings to change from dynamic to static IP address configuration, and set an IP address on the computer appropriately.
9. If your connection remains non-functional, unplug your router and connect the computer directly to your broadband modem. If this configuration is functional, contact the manufacturer of your router for additional support.

i would highley recommend what mtb211 specifcally about having the correct wep key
i used to work in tech support and one of the most common problems when windows said it was connected but with limited or no connectivity was because the encryption key was set wrong
check the encryption key is set correctly and then check you have set ip to obtain automatically and reset any changes made and it should work
it is also worth noting that some older versions of windows dont nativatly support certian methods of encryption, usaully WPA and WPA2

i dont really understand what your trying to say here? i cant change from static as my isp gives me a dynamic one automatically so...?
or are you trying to say i should set up a ip address for that computer on my router?

what OS is on the laptop?
do you by any chance get the 'unidentified network' thingie, it's common on vista and 7.
the temp fix is to change the mac address on the wireless adapter to random hex characters, then you release and renew the ip address.
